The Lions Interior Defensive Line
The combination of Snacks Harrison and A’Shawn Robinson is the best run stuffing interior duo in the league. The stats may not back it up, but I addressed that. Aaron Jones went nuts with inside runs against the Cowboys, but that might not be as easy against Detroit. LaFleur had been favoring outside run the first four games and he may have to return to that to find success running against Detroit.
Golladay and Jones vs Jaire and King
Kenny Golladay is an underrated talent who has done nothing but improve since entering the league in 2016. A big body at 6’4 220, he could be a tough physical matchup for Kevin King. Marvin Jones is a little shorter at “only” 6’2 and could be a handful for Jaire Alexander. I think this could be the most best receiving duo in the division by the end of the year. These guys didn’t come into the league with fanfare, but they are a big pair that will test the physicality of the Packers corners. Without Darnell Savage floating in the back-end, this will be interesting to watch.
Aaron F*cking Rodgers
Last year, the Lions played a severely injured Aaron Rodgers for a game and Deshone Kizer for the finale. The year before, they got a couple doses of Brett Hundley. Congrats, Lions, you went 4-0. But now you face a healthy Aaron Rodgers for the first time since 2016, when he three 8 TDs and 0 interceptions with 64 yards rushing and 2 wins. I’m not expecting a statistical explosion, but I’m expecting an offense led by a healthy Rodgers to be very effective.
Big Questions:
- How will the Packers handle Kerryon Johnson’s physical running style?
- How will Aaron Jones be used as a receiver?
- How will Jamaal Williams be used after Aaron Jones’s career day?
- Can the safety platoon make a big play without Darnell Savage?
- Can a wide receiver step up with Adams out?
