The Packers come back home to face the Washington Redskins just as their young talent is starting to emerge. Here’s our key factors for the game:
Take It Seriously
Sure, they’re only 3-9, but they’re on a 2-game win streak since getting Derrius Guice back. They only lost to the 49ers by a score of 9-0, so if you use San Francisco as a measuring stick, then the Redskins are worlds better than the Packers. Green Bay can’t afford to take this team lightly or thing will get uglier than the Chargers game.
Stop the Run
With the tandem of Adrian Peterson and a finally-healthy Derrius Guice, the Redskins ran wild last week against the Panthers, getting 248 yards and 3 touchdowns off of 30 carries. Yeah, they went off for over 8 yards per carry. The Packers get a bad rap for having an inconsistent offense. They are near the top of the league in touchdown drive percentage. However, when opponents grind out the clock with strong running attacks, it gives the offense fewer opportunities and takes them out of rhythm.
Unleash This Offense
The Redskins held Christain McCaffrey down in the run game, but he still had 7 catches for 58 yards. Getting similar pass game production from Aaron Jones would help this offense be more versatile. Last week guys like Marcedes Lewis, Geronimo Allison, and Allen Lazard came up big in spots with Danny Vitale coming within inches of a big play. None of these guys are Pro Bowlers, but they are all very capable role players. The Packers will need to maximize their role players to finish the season strong.
